Blind VI Tennis was launched at MayFest two years ago and now it is big in India.

We are indebted to Sport Ireland and their welcome Dormant Account Funding which makes it happen here.

Tennis guru and the man behind blind/vi tennis Liam O’Donoghoe tells the story best…

“Well when we started what became Enjoy Tennis - we didn’t know all that would follow......

“We didn't envisage introducing blind tennis to Ireland with Joe, Rahim and the Vision Sports crew.

“And we certainly never envisaged what is represented in the photo above!

“Simon McFarland, a Tennis Ireland coach from Windsor TC in Belfast spending a week in New Delhi with the Delhi Lawn Tennis Association training Indian coaches in Blind Tennis!!

“This will lead to the rollout of the game in the Region.

“Two years ago Simon from Windsor Tennis Club in conjunction with Windsor club members and Judith Brennan from Disability Sport NI started the first Blind/VI group in Ulster.  The group has gone from strength to strength since then.

“Last year he won the Ulster Coach of the year award from Tennis Coach Ireland

“Davinder Kapur, one of the volunteers from Windsor who established the link with New Delhi is with him.

“You can follow Simon's progress with the coaches and new players in New Delhi on his blog
