We are celebrating 10 years of walking together in September this year - a date to be remembered!
To mark our tin anniversary we have decided to respond to the requests of many members to plan an overnight stay with one of our walks. After looking at many options and doing a lot of groundwork searching for the best prices, locations, service etc, here's what we are proposing:
Date: Saturday 8th September.
Walk: Blue Pool Nature Trail, Killarney
Accommodation: Muckross Park Hotel
Cost: €110 per person sharing for Bed and Breakfast, plus €35pp for evening meal together with entertainment.
The Muckross Park Hotel is by far the most convenient choice as it is adjacent to the proposed walk which is itself the first of its kind in Ireland - the Cloghereen Nature Trail forms part of the Blue Pool Trail and is the first nature trail in Ireland for visually impaired walkers. The trail is marked with a guide rope, a recorded commentary and cassette player can be hired at the Killarney National Park Visitor Centre and at Muckross House - emphasis on touch, sound and scent.
This is a one-off event and it may be a long time before we organise another one again so this is your chance to splash out on a night away with the club. By putting away €5 a week from now until then, you will cover the cost of your accommodation and dinner - 70 cents a day and you'll be on your way!!
Further details will be circulated at a later date to those interested in coming along to this fun trip. So that we can estimate numbers and plan the event in more detail, we would ask all members to RSVP directly to this e-mail to indicate their interest - no message required, simply type one of the following into the subject line: 1. Going, 2. Not Going or 3. Undecided.
Please RSVP by next Friday, February 16th.
